Battery Back-Up Units

These bespoke battery back-up units are specifically manufactured for use in DC systems, as standby supplies to cover for failure of the normal supply. Battery back-up units are normally self contained with the battery in the enclosure but can be supplied for use with remote batteries. The batteries are generally rated to cover 1Hour, 2Hour and 3Hour standby periods but longer or shorter periods can be accommodated.

Description

Battery back-up units consist of a bank of battery cells, an automatic charger, and peripherals as required. The units would normally be complete with mains healthy and charge fail indication, charge ammeter and battery voltmeter.

Under normal conditions they operate as battery chargers, recharging and maintaining the battery in good condition. The battery is sized to supply the load for the standby time when called upon by remote devices. Battery back-up units can be supplied as Floating units where the charger is rated to charge the battery and supply the load whilst the supply to the unit is healthy.

Wall mounting cubicles are complete with lockable front opening doors and top mounted cable entry gland plate. Floor standing cubicles have lockable lift off covers and a fixed pre-drilled cable entry gland plate. The construction of a battery back-up unit is from substantial gauge sheet steel, folded and welded before being finished with a quality electrostatic powder coating RAL7032 or RAL7035.
